US forces Portsmouth

Hoping someone can help me to find out if there were any of the US forces based in Portsmouth December 1942. Probably a bit early in WW2 for them to be over here but you never know.

The first US troops arrived in UK on January 26 1942.

Thanks for that Shaun, is there a list of any regiments based in Portsmouth December that year?
