Well, I guess we wait now to hear from Imfamilyresearch as to whether this has been of help to his search before we look at any information that might be found for Thomas RIDDELL.

Sorry for the delay in responding.

Thank you everyone for the info you have provided for Alexander.  I'm slowly going through everything.

sparrett: the 1851 marriage you found for Alexander is a very good option.  I've found it on Ancestry.  I've ordered a death certificate for a John Riddel to see if it could be my "John Riddel" and I'm hoping the death cert might have an occupation listed and whether or not it matches the father's occupation on the marriage entry for Alexander.

I just found the baptism record for both Thomas and Alexander.  Interestingly, I was doing a search on their father John Riddel and that's how I found the baptism records.

Thomas Riddel was born on 05 Jun 1828 and baptized on 04 Apr 1853 as an adult.  Alexander Riddel was born on 20 Oct 1829 and baptized on 03 Jan 1852 as an adult.  Both were baptized at St. Mary Newington, Southwark, London.  Both baptism records indicate their father's occupation was "late porter at the House of Commons".
