Three couples near us and some in the distance.

Clapping for Sir Tom at six O’Clock today.
Viktoria.

It is just after 5 a.m. in New South Wales, Australia .   Our household  are standing together in our kitchen  clapping hands.  Some of our family were working overseas and are still waiting, nearly a year later,  to return home.  They are exchanging messages right this moment with us as they are clapping too,  we all hope it is 1800 hours there.

I clapped for Sir Tom tonight, a few others on doorsteps and some car horn honking.

I was also clapping for my dear mom who died of Covid last week (she also acquired it in a hospital)  :'( :'( :'(

At 18.01 i was on my doorstep, saw the rear end  of a neighbour going in, and that was  all,  very disappointing  but I think it was a  bit  of a rush, should have given it more publicity and made it a Thursday

I didn't know anything about the clapping until I turned the news on, and by then it was over! What a stupid time to do it and with no warning.

Condolences Jools on the loss of your Mother, I am very sorry to hear of this.

I went out to clap.  I think I might have been the only one in my street.  I did see someone out much further up the street but I don't know if it was for the purpose of clapping.
I also remembered I have a video clip of St Nicholas, Newcastle Church bells ringing on my Kindle so I also played this.  (I took this in 2018 after attending the Centenary Remembrance Service and I visited the Cathedral afterwards with my sister in law.)
Well, I think Captain Tom certainly deserves a grand peal of bells.  :)

I agree Groom, perhaps there just hasn't been enough publicity or notice given.

Here too, someone across the road clapped with me and some further up
too.
On the main road there seemed to be quite a few but there were echoes .

There will be something more when possible.

I know there are many people doing wonderful things ,but his war history, at only just over twenty and then his wonderful effort , well it takes someone very special .
The little boy who walked with his frame is someone suitable to do something in any events to celebrate and remember Sir Tom .
That little boy is very special too.
Viktoria.
