Disappearing Family- Neave 1820's Norwich
« on: Monday 01 February 21 03:24 GMT (UK) »
John Lugar aka Jonathan Neave married Elizabeth Paston 14 December 1813 St Simon and St Jude Norwich.(baseborn son of Ann Neave who later married Joseph Lugar)
All their children have surname Neave or variations
John 1816
Elizabeth Ling 1819
Charles Ling 1820
Mary Ann 1824
Sarah Ann 1825
Sarah Ward 1829 St Julian

John Neave age 36 buried 17 October 1830 at St Julian. Right age right parish so I believe I have the right man.

So where did his family go? as yet I have no deaths for the children and cannot find them on the 1841 census and help appreciated.

What occupation do you have for father John NEAVE?

What is the significance of...... LING....used as a second given name for the first two children?.....and WARD......second given name for Sarah, born 1829?

Occupation for father John Neave only daughter Sarah 1825 at St Paul has fathers occupation Waterman.

Significance of the name Ling

Elizabeth Paston is the daughter of Thomas Paston and Mary nee Kett, who in turn was the daughter of Robert Kett and Elizabeth unknown.
Mary' older sister Elizabeth Kett married Charles Lyng/Ling so the Paston children Elizabeth and Charles with the middle name Ling are for their Aunt and Uncle.

I haven't worked out the Ward connection yet.

To Kay99

That Charles is in the right parish 1841.
There is also Charles married to an Elizabeth on subsequent census occupation coal porter but I cannot make a connection, although if it is him his Uncle Charles Ling was a Coal Merchant.

ADDED
Norfolk Chronicle 1839 property for sale of the late Henry Kett and Charles Ling.

There was another about dissolving a partnership between the two of them but I must not have printed it.

The Ward connection.
Elizabeth Paston who married John Neave aka Lugar had a sister Sarah who married Samuel Ward 1815 at St Saviour.
So Sarah Ward Neave 1829 was named after Aunt.
