I think this is the claim and counter-claim that SaddleHill was referring to. It was the only thing I could find around the date given in the Otago Daily Times, in court on 3 November 1862, reported in the Otago Daily Times the following day on 4 November 1862. Related to a commercial transaction between possibly Thomas Hunter and a McMaster, although only surnames are given, the claim and counter-claim can be found near the bottom of the article. Unfortunately it is not related to the birth of Margaret McMaster's twin sons to James Galbraith.

So was I initially. When I couldn't find it, I started expanding my search outwards. I was also looking for the names McMaster and Galbraith, rather than McMaster and Hunter.
