Hi everyone a huge thank you for all the messages.. I am also trying to ascertain when James George Williams arrived in Scotland, prior to this he was in Australia, he emigrated there in 1929. Are there any electoral rolls for Leith Edinburgh 1936-1941?
Best

Ken

Ancestry have not too long ago added electoral rolls for Edinburgh (also now have Glasgow, Aberdeen and Fife for different periods). The Edinburgh ones go from 1833 - 1966.

Was Iris married to a Charles McFarlane? The MacFarlanes show at Nicoll Place from at least 1933-66. Over the years, there was an Iris Snr and Junior listed.

Regarding James, I would not expect him to be showing on the Edinburgh electoral rolls. I failed to find him yesterday on the incoming passenger lists. Maybe someone here will have better luck!

Hello Monica. Greatly appreciate your in-put, Yes! Iris was married to Charles Edward Macfarlane and Iris JNR would have been James George Williams' cousin. If I can ascertain when  James George arrived back in the uk from Australia then that will answer one of the families biggest enigmas.
Many thanks again monica.

Have you considered applying for James's service papers? There is a charge for this (£30GB).

This is the initial form to complete if you are not next of kin https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/913065/NNOK_request_service_details.pdf
