did they come from one place
« on: Wednesday 03 February 21 20:54 GMT (UK) »
im not sure if. this is the right place to. post this, but no doubt you'll tell me.

in the late. eighteenth or early. nineteenth century, jews were brought over from Poland, mainly to work in the note lace industry.

as Warsaw was being purged of jews at the time, and it strikes me that it would be easier to bring over people from there, rather than going around. the countryside, I tend to think they were brought. from there....cant find any more specific information.

does anyone know, please

Hi,

Not an expert on Jewish immigration, but would suggest that those who emigrated chose to go
To the country of their choice. They were not looked for or selected in most cases they were escaping persecution.  Many had work related to textiles not lace in particular.

The following may be of interest re their History in England

Hope this is of some use.

please correct me. if the stuff ive read is incorrect.

although it doesn't say that jews were forced to leave the country, it does say that the authorities were stopping the growth of the jewish population in Warsaw, by saying they had. to leave the town if they hadn't been living there for....for example.....10 years....and this was. gradually tightened until they had to have been born there.

it also says that jews were used as. cats paws by both the poles and the Russians in their battles. with one another and that in-between they were targeted as having fought for the other side, whether this was true or not.

it argues that young male jews. realised the signs of the times and took opportunities to get away
