Apologies for this.  You say that James Slack died in Yaxley in 1971.  As I understand it, Yaxley is in the Peterborough Registration District  :-\ but I can't locate a death in 1971 in that Registration District.  The only death registration for James Slack with the dates given by you (born 1905, died 1971) is in Macclesfield.

Added - now found the death registration for James William Slack - October 1970, confirming the birth date of 27 April 1904.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Looking at the 1939 register James was born 1904.  There is a birth registration in Huntingdon Registration District for James William Slack in June quarter 1904 - GRO says mother's maiden name is Knighton.

There is a marriage 1881 in St Ives Registration District between William Slack and Charlotte Knighton.  If I have the correct James William Slack in 1911, aged 8, his parents have been married for 40 years - father William and mother Charlotte., living in Ramsey.
