I’d never heard of a tracer card before, but apparently they are on Ancestry. There does not seem to be a card for anyone with this name, date of birth and place of birth.

Others might be able to find him for you.

You could also consider getting his service records.

If he's James Salmon 1781114, there is some limited info on his postings on the Royal Artillery attestation register on FindMyPast: https://search.findmypast.co.uk/record?id=GBM%2FROYALART%2F1781001-1782000%2F00017&parentid=GBM%2FROYALART%2F632729

Hi Shaun, yes I've seen that but not sure if it's him as we don't have any proof of his service number.

Thankyou

If it helps at all, 1781114 Salmon was transferred to the Army Catering Corps in Jul 1944, is there any clue to that in family knowledge?.

Not sure, all we know is that on the 1939 register he was stationed at Canterbury barracks with his wife Emily, daughter Patricia and father in law Alfred. It's my partner's father and he said he was in the royal artillery. Thankyou for replying.
