Advice please UK marriage records

I am trying to trace a marriage record from the 1950s, I only have partial information from a family member. I have gone into the GRO but, as I do not have all details this is proving expensive.
My question is, I have the grooms name and his fathers details,  is there a way of searching records with just this information?, it will be the fathers mane that will confirm the record I am after.
I have been looking on BMD free site , but cannot see the fathers details.

Unfortunately you will only see the father's name on the certificate itself - assuming it is recorded, of course.

I thought so , but worth an ask, nobody in the family seems to know the brides name, thanks for reply.

If you have the groom's name, possible date and location, you could try FreeBMD.  Also, if you are sure that both bride and groom are deceased, why not ask us for help.

GRO has English/Welsh records;  if the marriage took place in Scotland you will need to search ScotlandsPeople.

I've fallen into the "UK" trap a few times; easy to do especially if members live abroad and think all our records will be in the same place.

Maybe Jack TT needs to try a Scottish search.

Another thought - did the couple have any children?  If registered in England or Wales then the mother's maiden name will be recorded, which may help in locating the marriage record.

Thanks for all the replies, the individuals are deceased, the groom being born in 1920.
The only information that I have is groom Denis Daly and his father Henry Daly.
The marriage took place in London around the 1960s. The grooms father is my grandfathers brother, unfortunately anyone who could help in the family has passed away.
The information came from a distant relative who apparently was at the wedding.
