« on: Saturday 06 February 21 19:12 GMT (UK) »
Hi, Does anyone have info on Bridget (Brigid) McCloskey born 1877 to Henry and Margaret McLoskey.  Then married to Thomas McFeely in 1918. Possibly had a son William in 1919.  Thanks

I can't see any births in Ireland between 1918 and 1930 for McFeely/McCloskey.

Hi Girl Guide - Wow, thank you so much.

I wonder if they perhaps moved after getting married.  Is there a way of seeing where people lived in Ireland at that time, I believe there was no 1921 census. Perhaps voting records I could investigate?  Thanks again, very much appreciated.

They do seem to be difficult to pin down.  The marriage cert  simply states of full age, so 21 or over.

I have found a 1911 census which could well be Thomas.  Dad is Patrick and his occupation is farmer, Thomas is also a farmer which is the same as on the marriage cert.

If this is correct then Thomas was born about 1897.

Thomas and his wife may well have decided to go to America as so many Irish did.

There is a Rootschatter called Aghadowey who has lots of knowledge of Irish matters.  Irish genealogy is not something that I know a great deal about.  Hopefully she may spot this post and be able to assist you further.

You have Bridget born in 1877 above. Should it be later if husband Thomas was c. 1897?

Hi, thanks again for trying to help, Irish ancestors is really hard to trace.  I think Thomas was born in 1883, his dad was Patrick mother Elizabeth.  My info states that Patrick died in 1891 so wouldn't have been present at the marriage in 1918.  There is a Patrick as a witness but it has pp after it?  Thomas had a brother Patrick who would have been about 20 at the time.  It looks like Bridget had a lot of family that moved to Philadelphia, I'll try and research that some more.  Thank you again, I really appreciate your help.  Best wishes >>

Hi Monica, Thank you for the welcome. :)

I don't think that is the right Thomas. I believe mine was born in 1883 to Patrick and Elizabeth.

I think Thomas was born in 1883, his dad was Patrick mother Elizabeth.

If your Thomas was born in 1883, then this was his family in 1901 census. He states on his marriage record that he was living in Farkland townland.
