Hi Everyone
I have been helping my nana search for her adopted brother who was born here and wonder if anyone has any records for this place for 1949. We know he was born here in late 49 and that he was adopted soon after. Mother's surname would have been Robinson and we do not know what his first name was at birth. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance 🙏

Welcome to Rootschat
Those type of records for that period would not be available to members of the public

Thank you Carol, does this mean that there is not a way to obtain any further information? I have searched everywhere and as you suggest found nothing of any help.
Thanks again

Adoption files and the Adopted Children's Register are not open records. Registering with an intermediary service and getting onto the contact register would be a good idea.
If the birth name is known then there's nothing to stop anyone applying for the birth certificate but it will not have any details to link it to events after the adoption order was granted. The only difference between the certs for an adoptee and non adoptees is that the word "adopted" is entered in column 10.

Thank you Glen, I think I have the first name and have ordered the birth certificate to be sure. If this is the correct person then I will look at the register and contacting an intermediary.
Thanks again.
