Just to start you off 41/MGC were on the Ypres Salient on the day he arrived.

He would only have been 19 max at that point - and straight into the fifth battle of Ypres, if my calculations are correct?
it must have been hell on earth.

The 5th. Battle of Ypres was later that year.
What he headed into was the German Spring Offensive.
When he joined the 46/Btn. they were at Fresnoy France.

To give you an idea the 41/Btn. fired over 90,000 rounds over a 2 day period while defending Zillebeke.

And sorry @Jim1 - you mean the 41/Btn fired 90,00 rounds over two days and he would have been there at the time in that regiment?
