Mystery of grandchild Pamela- Edinburgh
« on: Monday 08 February 21 19:08 GMT (UK) »
Hello- I am looking for help with determining the parentage of a child called Pamela who was the grandaughter of  Andrew Lamont (DOB 21 December 1888 died 4 July 1966  ) He married Alexandrina Fyfe on 23 September 1915 in Cupar, Fife. They had three children during their marriage. He died on 4 July 1966 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, at the age of 77.
Their 3 children were all girls:
Wilhelmina Small Lamont BIRTH 20 JUL 1917 • Abercorn, West Lothian, Scotland
DEATH Unknown
Isabella Fyfe Lamont BIRTH 25 MAY 1920 • Abercorn, West Lothian, Scotland
DEATH 23 AUG 1995 • Edinburgh, Scotland
Alexandrina Fyfe Lamont BIRTH 29 SEP 1925 • Abercorn, West Lothian, Scotland
DEATH 21 MAY 1995 • Edinburgh, Scotland

I know that Isabella was married to Gordon Clutterbuck in 1952 in Edinburgh and they went to South Africa. He died on 19 June 1976 in Bloemfontein, Free State, South Africa, at the age of 60.
I cannot find any mention of children.
I cannot find any marriage records for the other 2 girls.
I have a photograph of Andrew and Alexandrina F (snr) with a girl called Pamela who is aged about 5. Andrew died in 1966 so the girl is likely to have been born around 1960 ish. I have no other information other that the photograph names her as Pamela and was taken in Edinburgh outside their house. 25 Glendevon Road Edinburgh. The reverse of the photograph says:- "Pop me and grandchild Pamela" in Alexandrina's writing.
I would be so grateful if anyone can find anything to tell me which of the sisters was Pamela's mother?

Wilhelmina Speirs dies 2018 aged 94

Any chance either of Andrew or Alexandrina had been married (and widowed) before and the grandchild belongs to just one of them?

As with sister Wilhemina's death reg, there is no additional surname for Alexandrina Fyfe Lamont's death reg in 1995. So, likely also unmarried at the time of her death?

Daughters Wilhemina Lamont and Alexandrina Lamont Jnr show as living with their parents in the 1966 electoral rolls for 25 Glendevon Road, Edinburgh.

If there were no babies born out of wedlock....you would have to think that Pamela was likely a Clutterbuck? Maybe family were back from SA visiting relatives?

Added: There are at least a couple of returns to the UK for Gordon and Isabella, in 1954 and 1960. No children showing as travelling with them on the manifests. There may have been others crossings which don't show on the database I am looking at.

Thanks everyone for your efforts- unfortunately I have found most of the things that you have all mentioned but can't seem to get anything to tell me who Pamela was. I did look at those marriage records for:-
LAMONT WILHELMINA   ROBSON THOMAS CRAIG 1942 644/16 741 Tradeston
LAMONT WILHELMINA   SPEIRS PATRICK HARDING 1947 644/16 536 Tradeston

But unless I order the records I can't confirm them. Also if she had married one of these names would we mentioned on her death certificate as you said MonicaL and Rosinish.

I'll keep looking and digging.

Thanks again for everyone's help.

As I posted above, Wilhelmina Speirs dies 2018 aged 94, so is the wrong age to be your Wilhelmina
