Holborn birth records
« on: Tuesday 09 February 21 16:50 GMT (UK) »
Hello and thank you in advance.
Iím trying to find birth records for Henry Watmore

My great grandfather was born in Holborn in 1822.
He married Elizabeth Hunter in 1845 and moved to Chelmsford.
In 1880 the family moved to Winchester Hampshire.
He died in 1888

I am trying to find a birth date and parentage.
I am confused with a record showing a Henry Watmore but moving to Basingstoke and different children names.
Sorry if this rather a long story
Hope you can help.

Kind Regards

Chalkeydave

Where did you get the information that he moved to Basingstoke in 1880? In 1881 the family were in Chelmsford, Essex which is where Elizabeth was from.

With Osprey's details from the parish marriage, Henry's mother may have been called Jemima. There is a christening entry for a James, born 17 July 1924, with parents John and Jemima. Father John showing as a printer, living at Plumtree Court, St Andrews Holborn.

Another son, John, baptised on 21 Nov 1813 at St Andrews Holborn. Mother showing as Mina. Address for the family showing as Saffron Hill, father John a printer

more children to the same couple baptised at Countess of Huntingdon's Connexion
Sarah Whatmore born 31 Aug 1817 in the parish of St Brides, Fleet St baptised 22 Oct 1817
Jemima Watmore born 9 Oct 1818 in the parish of St Bride's Fleet St baptised 29 Oct 1818

Henry may have been baptised in a non-conformist church whose records aren't online?

There are marriage banns showing for a John Watmore and a Jemima Woston on 22 Mar 1807 at St Marylebone, Westminster. The actual surname for Jemima may be Wharton, as showing on the parish marriage entry 28 Mar 1807.

1841 Census entry for John and Jemima www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MQVN-GHG John showing as a printer.
