3rd Btn Suffolk Reg
« on: Wednesday 10 February 21 10:31 GMT (UK) »
Re 3rd Btn Suffolk Reg based at Felixstowe in 1914 reinforcement draft left for France in August 1914. which he was part of.

The reason I ask is that my Father was at Felixstowe in 3rd Btn, he was posted to France  then later on in his records (which I have) it is noted he is in 9th Btn. No other mention on any of his records at all to show the change in Btn's.

So I am wondering if when he left Felixstowe would he have been assigned to 9th Btn before shipping out to France.
I must admit to being confused so grateful for any help
Thank you

The 3rd. Btn. was a training reserve & never went overseas.
He would have been posted to another Btn. (poss. 2nd.) if he was part
of a 1914 draft but not the 9th. as they didn't go overseas until 1915.
Can you give his name & number so we can take a look.
Added:
2/Btn. received 1st. reinforcements in Sept. 1914. The only draft prior to that
were the Btn's Reservists, so was he a pre war regular?
