How long before matches turn up on Ancestry
« on: Wednesday 10 February 21 11:08 GMT (UK) »
I check for new matches on Ancestry once or twice a week. Today I had a new match (M)who also shared with my father's first cousin (C) and one other person (J) who I haven't identified the link with yet. I already knew that J shared matches with C and C's daughter.
M hasn't got a tree, but as I haven't any other matches from this branch (as far as I know), I wanted to find out more about M. I checked her profile and found she last signed in 3 - 11 months ago. She joined Ancestry in 2013.
I always though matches would show up within a few days of the results being available to the tester, but it either looks like they take a lot longer than this.
Berks / Oxon: Eltham, Annetts, Wiltshire (surname not county), Hawkins, Pembroke, Partridge
Dorset / Hants: Derham, Stride, Purkiss, Sibley
Yorkshire: Pottage, Carr, Blackburn, Depledge
Sussex: Goodyer, Christopher, Trevatt
Lanark: Scott (soldier went to Jersey CI)
Jersey: Fowler, Huelin, Scott

Perhaps the last log in was to purchase the dna kit. And the person has not yet logged in to see the results.

They would have had to have registered it when they received it, but I suppose there could have been a 3 month delay if they didn't actually do the test and send it off for processing until 6 - 8 weeks or so after registration
