Where is Insugazi?

1888 saw my grandfather serving with the Inniskillin Dragoon guards in zululand  having arrived in 1884. He was courtmartialed at Insugazi  and sentenced to 12 month hard labour for sleeping on sentry. As they were on active service this was commuted to loss of GC stripes & pay. Family history relates it as swearing at Baden Powell at the time which given the severity of the initial sentence seems likley, as others on the same sheet got less for more serious offences such as striking the CO. My question is where is Insugazi presumably it has a modern name

I can't find an actual place, but this may help to pinpoint it

According to a book found by Mr Google - Insugazi is near the meeting of the Itaka and Black Umvalosi rivers, and is somewhere in the Transvaal region.  I'll have a look at my South African maps.

Possibly now named Nsukazi     Black Umvalosi river now named Zwart-mfolozi

Thanks, I found the Black Umvalosi but not the Itake joining it

Perhaps one of the small rivers, streams shown on the map is named Itaka.

I wonder if the name is a mis-transcribed German name "Inhlazatye". It's in the general area of the Itaka and the Black Umvalosi rivers.

Personally I think that both the English and German names are mis-transcriptions of the original Zulu - Nsukazi.
