« on: Thursday 11 February 21 15:45 GMT (UK) »
Hi...….am trying to trace some information on a person who was on the 1911 census as a 2 month old baby girl along with her 18 year old mother in a Cardiff workhouse......from there have been unable to discover any further information on the mother either death records or on the 1939 register......maybe she emigrated?does anyone know what WORKHOUSE records are available and how youd go about getting them, eg the local registry office

Have you looked for a marriage?  If she was 18 she could have married soon afterwards.

A stab in the dark as you haven't given names, but are the mother and baby Eva Edwards and Ruth?

Birth
EDWARDS, RUTH  NAOMI     -
GRO Reference: 1911  M Quarter in CARDIFF  Volume 11A  Page 445

Death
EDWARDS, RUTH  NAOMI     0
GRO Reference: 1911  S Quarter in CARDIFF  Volume 11A  Page 548

No place of birth was given for Eva, her age was stated as 17, this makes it harder to find a suitable birth record for Eva.

Normally - if Workhouse records have survived - they are held in the County Archives. The catalogue of Archives are normally searchable.

If you can't find anything there - you could contact them by email. No doubt they are closed at the moment - but maybe staff are replying to queries. The catalogue for Glamorgam Archives is here;

http://calmview.cardiff.gov.uk/

There is also a link to contact them - even if they don't hold them, they may be able to tell you who does.
Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

This may be Ellen's birth record

LEE, ELLEN  LOUISA     VENN
GRO Reference: 1893  M Quarter in CARDIFF  Volume 11A  Page 450  Occasional Copy: A

Occasional copy A I think means that an alteration or addition was made to the birth certificate.
