You might try these links:

Old Bailey Online (1674-1913): https://www.oldbaileyonline.org/ If your ancestor was tried in the Old Bailey there might be a record of his trial.

If he came out on the First Fleet this site is a good start: http://firstfleet.uow.edu.au/search.html

Convict records of Australia: https://convictrecords.com.au/ Should have some information on most of the convicts who were sent to Australia.
