He appears in the Clergy Database (free site, no registration needed):

https://theclergydatabase.org.uk/jsp/search/index.jsp

The entry includes details from Foster's Oxford Alumni, including his father's name, where he was from and his age when he entered the university.

He was the vicar at St John the Baptist, Little Marlow Buckinghamshire from about 1723 to 1763.

Can't help with a baptism, however in a report of a lecture given about Bisham Church in 1882, it notes that Thomas GAGE was mentioned in the Parish Registers from 1718 -1764.
Saturday,  Dec. 16, 1882, Bucks Herald

(Though as he died in 1763, this may not be entirely accurate  ;) )

You may have already seen it, but Thomas also wrote a rather nice description of Bisham dated 14 August 1759 in  "Bibliotheca topographica Britannica vol 4" by John NICHOLS.

Hello arthurk and maddys52.
Arthurk
I have had a look on Clergy Database. Found the records for his sons Freeman and Stephen but could not find the name of Thomas’s father. maybe I have missed something.
In my very long to do list I have a note that his father MAY be Robert Gage born possibly in St Martin in the Fields Area Westminster, London this could imply that Thomas was also born inthe Westminster area but I have no idea at all !
Can you advise his DOB, location of his birth and fathers name if possible, please?

I was not aware of the nice description of Bisham dated 14 August 1759. I know have a copy.
Thank you to you both.

You've now found the Alumni entry I was referring to, but for future reference (and to help anyone else interested) you can see it in a person's entry at the Clergy Database site by clicking the '+' next to Comments at the top.

The entry is somewhat abbreviated, but I take it to mean that he was son of Thomas Gage, gentleman, of Southhurst, Somerset, born c1693. I haven't been able to identify Southhurst, though.

Sometimes you can get a bit more info on Oxbridge graduates from college archives, but not in this case. New Inn Hall was merged into Balliol College in the 1880s, and the Balliol Archives page says "No pre-1800 records for New Inn Hall or its members survive at Balliol." (From http://archives.balliol.ox.ac.uk/Past%20members/trace.asp - near the bottom of the page)

Yes, in the parish of Martock. There's another Hurst in Somerset - possibly just a farm or a small settlement - in Compton Dundon, and as that one is further north, maybe the Martock one is intended here. It certainly seems the best place to start looking....
