Newspapers.com Free weekend
« on: Friday 12 February 21 14:32 GMT (UK) »
Newspaper.com are advertising free access until Monday 15th February for Presidents Day, but I'm having trouble accessing it. When I click on the item I want to view it states " sign in below with your newspaper.com credentials to link your Facebook account after your accounts are connected you can sign in using either"
Now if I had a Newspaper.com account I wouldn't be trying to sign in for the free week end. Am I missing something here  ??? Has anyone else had this problem & I would be very grateful for any comments regarding this, as it would really help in my search if I could access the US newspapers.

The post on The Newspapers.com facebook page announcing the free weekend states the following:
Free access available through the link in this post. Registration required. Terms & conditions apply. Free access ends 15 Feb 2021 at 11:59 PM MT.

I tried it yesterday and had the same problem, Ellenmai.

PS - I've tried another way as I had registered at some stage but nothing showed up for what I was looking for  :(

I used the link from Facebook http://nwspprs.com/freeweekend then signed in with my Ancestry credentials and it is working fine....

I wouldn't touch Facebook with a barge pole so I guess I'm out of luck.

Erato, I don't use Facebook either so just click the link and all being well you will not go near Facebook.

I didn't use Facebook either - I don't use it. My view of Facebook is similar to Erato's.

I used it via my Ancestry account.

Hello Gadget,
What I was trying to say is that it does not work if you go direct from your Ancestry account, I started by trying that. Use the link that I gave, which has nothing to do with Facebook which I never use either, and you should be able to access whatever you want. It is how I got in free and I am busy downloading marriages and obituaries without any problems.
Good lucky
