I was looking for more info on the younger brother (b 1789) of my 3xg grandfather. His Scottish obit has him as a Merchant!  He was registered as an alien in 1812 and died NYC in 1823. I seem to have stumbled on pages and pages of reports of boats carrying coffee and flour* bound for him!

I was trying to find info on a possible wife. We've never found one but LiverpoolAnnie found me a possible named Ann. Nothing found so far.

* found some rum, cotton and tobacco as well ::)

I have so many people to look for, I don't know where to focus.  I'm looking at the Yateses in Packwaukee now - wading through dozens of reports of D. Yates [now mercifully deceased] being arrested, admonished, fined and even sometimes jailed for traffic offenses and violations of the hunting and fishing laws.  He was a serial scofflaw.

Just keep plowing on Gadget you never know something may turn up when you least expect it. I feel the same as you Erato like a child in a sweet shop, not knowing who to choose next in such little time. I have started a rogues gallery, the press seemed to like to report things in great detail years ago. It's amazing the amount of detail they put in on weddings & funerals & who's who, which is all very helpful.

"It's amazing the amount of detail"

That's for sure.  I found a report on a $20 robbery in 1909 [my relative was quoted as a witness] that had a full banner headline and the text was almost half a page complete with a picture of the heroic policeman, an artist's sketch of the chase and a huge drawing of the crook.

Well, I've found Ann but not in the newspapers - as sole executor in a Wills and Probate collection   ;D

Maybe it's because  I'm focusing on the early years  - 1810-1825

Oh I agree Ellenmai. Just not 100% sure it's one of mine yet. More research needed.  :)
