Park, born in ayrshire between 1829 7 1827
« on: Friday 12 February 21 15:03 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to see if 3 daughters of Hamilton Park & Mary (nee Kerr) emigrated to Canada!!

The daughters are
Catherine/Katherine Park born 12/04/1862 Ayr, Ayrshire
Annie Park born 12/05/1865 Kilwinning, Ayrshire
Elizabeth Park born 2/08/1867 Kilwinning, Ayrshire.

I cannot find anything on Scotlandspeople after the 1881 census, it could be that I just have not looked hard enough, but Park was a very common name.

I know they had one sister Agnes park born 4/7/1859 who I believe emigrated to USA Pawtucket, Providence, Rhode Island, USA Around 1913
and a half sister Margaret born 30/01/1871 (mothers maiden name West) who I believe emigrated to Cumberland, Canada? after 1913!!! not sure when.

Any information you can help with would be gratefully received.

Thank you

Thank you for your help on this, I did have most of the information you sent, it is mainly the daughters I am trying to find out more about.

Not sure if you can work your magic on them for me.

Hi Maria,

You mention that you can't find any trace of the three sisters after the 1881 Census.

Elizabeth, as posted by ColC, is with her father, step-mother and siblings at Coylton on that Census.
Could you, please tell us where you found Catherine and Annie on the 1881? This info could help us move forward.

Looby :)

Hi Looby

Thank you for looking into this for me.  I have found 1881 census where there is an Catherine Kerr Park (boarder) Scotlandspeople 573/62/8 what looks like 11 Prussia Street, Paisley, where she is a Millworker born Ayr, Ayrshire and boarding with a William Rae, Mrs Rae and children Agnes McAllister Rae and Gilbert Kerr Rea.  So I have assumed this could be her!!!

Again Annie was a border, she was a Flax Mill worker born in Kilwinning, she lived with a family called Spencer in Kilbirnie. Scotlandspeople 596/ 5/ 6. Cannot read street name!!!  Again I have assumed this is my Annie.

The email will not let me send you copies as it says they are too large!!!

Hope this helps, let me know if you need anything else.

Regards

The details I have are;

Catherine's birth, Scotlandspeople 578/ 239 1862 born Ayr, Ayrshire

Annie's birth, Scotlandspeople 599/ 141 1865 born Kilwinning.

I have not yet got a copy of these to confirm they are the children of Hamilton and Mary, but can do if you need them.

Hi Maria,

Thanks for the Census info - which ColC has confirmed.

How do you know that Hamilton and Mary Park had daughters called Catherine and Annie? Have you found them on earlier Censuses with their parents. As it stands to confirm the girls existed you would need to find their birth registrations or you could go hunting down the wrong road.
The couple in Paisley - William Rae and wife call their son Gilbert Kerr Rae , which could perhaps hint at a relationship with Catherine Kerr Park.
But their is no birth registration for a Catherine Kerr Park  - so the middle name looks to have been added at a later date.
