Searching the Prerogative Court of Canterbury Wills
« on: Friday 12 February 21 15:56 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find the will of Robert Storey. I have the death duty index which is dated Oct 1825. There is a National Archive reference and then the name of the court which is the Canterbury Prerogative Court. The problem is I can't find the actual will anywhere. I'm assuming it would be in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury Wills which I have access to but I can't see his entry within it  ??? Am I barking up the wrong tree?

There is no will. Look at the column headings in the Index to Death Duty Registers, and you will see that he died intestate (= without a valid will).

The entry shows that a grant of administration was made in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury to Sarah Sylvester so that she could administer his estate (sell any property, distribute his assets, etc.)
