I was taking another look at my grandfather`s cousin who was born in Hawick in1900; the certificate says she was illegitimate, which she was, like wise her 2 brothers although one had a proved father.
But a previous entry was quite entertaining, I had a little smile to myself. The chiild was Jane Anne Lockie or Campbell. In the parents column it says Sarah Anne Lockie, wife of Hugh Campbell, hairdresser, who she declares is not the father of the child, and further that she has had no communication or intercourse with him for the last 7 years !!!!!!!!!
Doesn`t seem quite fair does it? and poor Hugh. Or maybe he had a similar experience !!
