Hi Sandra,

I have had another phone call from R. Sands and he has confirmed through his brother and older family members that William Sands - Born in 1920 is a brother to their late father born in 1916. Also confirmed the granny's name of Alice Barclay.

He was so interested and I will be sending him the SP Records I have found for the family whilst researching. I now have his telephone number and address. He said family members would love to attend Mount Vernon when a CWGC Headstone is put in place.

What happens now? Do the CWGC get in touch with R. Sands. Sorry not done this before.

Take care,
Dorrie

It was all really down to my son when I mentioned the surname to him on Sunday. Purely in conversation when he asked me what I was up too.

As it turns out R. Sands and his children know my son well and still have a pint together in the local pub although not for some time now. It is a small world.

Again, my pleasure to have helped.

Take care,

Dorrie

A massive thank you to Dorrie for all her families input into this enquiry.  It was a very successful result.  Great to hear that other family members would also be interested in attending when the new headstone is dedicated.
