Elizabeth MANN buried St Thomas's Churchyard Halifax 1911
« on: Saturday 13 February 21 08:34 GMT (UK) »
There is an Elizabeth MANN of Heworth Green, York buried in the St Thomas's Churchyard, Halifax on 22 March 1911.  She was 89 years of age and born c 1822. (Source Genuki)
Other MANN's also buried in the churchyard are John Mann, his wife Mary Mann and son Robert Parker Mann.

In immigration to Canterbury, New Zealand on the ship "Lady Jocelyn" which departed London on 3 November 1874, arriving Lyttelton, New Zealand on 21 January 1875 - Colonial Nominated Immigrants by Anthony Mann, Waimate, NZ are the following:

Elizabeth Mann 46yrs Cook, Yorks
Emily Mann 17yrs Svt, Yorks
Elizabeth Mann 15yrs Svt, Yorks
Robert [Parker] Mann 7yrs, Yorks

I have yet to located the migration record for Anthony, but do know he was in Waimate, NZ in Nov 1873 (Source: Paperspast NZ Press newspaper 11 Nov 1873, Pg 2)

I would be interested to know if the Elizabeth Mann buried in the St Thomas's churchyard, Halifax is the same person at the Elizabeth Mann who came out to NZ in 1874/75?

Could she be a sister of John Mann, and aunt to Elizabeth, Emily and Robert?

Robert Parker Mann returned to England (details unknown) and I wonder if Elizabeth Mann returned with him?  Robert Parker Mann died in 1881.

Any assistance appreciated.

I will attach as a separate posting research on the NZ Board, on Elizabeth Mann age 15yrs who arrived in NZ in 1875 to avoid duplication of research.

Hi Rosie99,
The Elizabeth Mann buried in 1911 and/or with Arthur and Mary Coton is not the Elizabeth Mann that I am looking for so back to the drawing board.
The Elizabeth Mann with the Coton's was the wife of Joseph Mann.

Hi Rosie99,

I have taken another look at this and you could be on the right track.

Also buried in St Thomas's churchyard is Joseph Mann who died 22 July 1900.  His wife is Elizabeth Mann nee Halliday.  They married in 1855 in Halifax.

John Mann who died on 25 May 1906 and is also buried in the churchyard married Mary Mann nee Holmes in 1844 in Halifax.

I wonder if John born 1825 and Joseph born 1821 both born Halifax were siblings?  This would make Elizabeth, John's sister-in-law.

I have yet to find any children of Joseph and Elizabeth.

There is a headstone for Joseph, just in case you hadn't seen it.
I don't think anyone else in the Mann family has a stone.

Thanks Pauline for the photo which is much appreciated.
I have been looking at some family trees on Ancestry and note that alot of them contain incorrect info.  I have sent a message to one family tree owner to see if they are able to assist.
I hope that the Elizabeth referred to in the photo as wife of Joseph, is Elizabeth Halliday?
Thanks
