which military stand in the WW2 in Gosport?
« on: Sunday 14 February 21 08:25 GMT (UK) »
Hello, I am looking for my uncle's father. We only assume that he was stationed in Gosport. I am trying to find out which military was stationed in Portsmouth and the surrounding area during the Second World War. Can anyone please help me find out? Many thanks
Ela

Portsmouth and the surrounding area would have been, particularly in the run up to D Day in 1944, chock a block with servicemen and women from all 3 services and from many allied forces.  Even RAF stations had men from other services.

One doesn't like to be so blunt or appear unhelpful but your question is unanswerable as posed.
Presumably this is associated with your 8 candidates referred to on your other thread "RAF Gosport 1943"

Sorry, it's difficult when you're not from England yourself.
Thank you very much for your answer.

Did I make a mistake with the question. How do you mean that the question is not answerable in the context of my other question?
Kind Regards

Please forgive the late reply Ela, been in hospital!

Your search for the eight men is more likely to produce an answer.  There is no way anyone can know which servicemen were stationed in the area during the war- that is what I meant by unanswerable.
