John Watson Nicholson

Part of my ongoing research in the the players from the various old Whitby football clubs (as well as my own Family History) has lead me to the discovery of

Mr. John Watson Nicholson.

I'm looking for the following info.

Date of birth (1965)
Date of Death (1945)

To my knowledge John Watson Nicholson was born in Lealholm in 1865. The son of John Nicholson and Mary Ann Watson.
1871 - Living Lealholm Hall, Glaisdale
1881 - Solicitors Clerk living County Hotel, Ruswarp.
1891 - 71 Baxtergate, Whitby.
1901 - Hotel Proprietor Golden Lion Hotel Loftus (listed as James)
1911 - Hotel Proprietor Golden Lion Hotel Loftus
Died in Whitby reg district 1945.

A* doesn't have the actual DOB/DOD. wondered if anyone else knew the dates or could locate them for me please?

 He is on the 1939 register has date of birth can't put details here.

There is a burial or cremation date of 9th Feb 1945.

The 1939 register gives his DOB as 1864.
GRO gives:
NICHOLSON, JOHN  WATSON     mmn WATSON 
GRO Reference: 1865  M Quarter in WHITBY  Volume 09D  Page 391

Possibly the DOB is 1/1/1865.


Wonder what the pencilled numbers are in reference to:
31 12 JGE
Possibly a date of death or a correction to DOB?
As is 31/12/1864.


Above him is Marjorie Welford Hume MC 9 9 50 JGE
This could be Marjorie's wedding.
