Can anyone help please? Westlund Scotland
« on: Sunday 14 February 21 19:14 GMT (UK) »
Rose Westlund
Born 1940 Ardrossan, Scotland
I think she married in England?as I can find no record in Scotland, and had a son Alexander and returned to Ayrshire
I know her husband was called Alec/Alex/Alexander but don't know his surname or her married name
Her mother was called Grimes and father a Norwegian from Christiansand? (Spelling) called Peter Karl Westlund
Can anyone help me find her marriage please?

Catherine Birgitte Westlund her sister. Born in Ayrshire. 1936.
Married a Faqir/Fakir Mohammed/Mohamed possibly in England where their mother Grimes lived?
She had a son Terence Sardar Mohammed born 1954 Springburn, Glasgow and 5 other children.
Anyone able to locate the marriage? England? Please 💖

Ardrossan used to be a very busy port and ship-building and repair base.  During WW2 it was also a Military Port.   The building facing the whole length of Glasgow Street, adjacent to the new ASDA supermarket housed the NORWEGIAN CONSULATE.   I suspect that it was mainly an honorary position from the 1960s onwards.
It was still there long after the demise of the port's activities due to containerisation and the closure of the oil refinery and their oil-carrier ships base at Montgomery Pier.
If you can't find anything from Scotland's People site try posting a request on the 3towns site as there are several local historians who are regular posters and they have regular access to the local newspaper archives ... The Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald, published and printed from buildings just a stone's throw from the Consulate.
cheers, Ian

Catherine Grimes and Karl Westlund married 3rd Qrt. 1931 in South Shields (vol. 10s/ pg. 1660).

Daughter Catherine's marriage was in Bristol, 2nd Qrt 1964 (vol. 7b/ pg. 331).

Can't see anything for Rose unfortunately.

See that after two South Shields births post the marriage, the family moved to Scotland where Catherine, Rose and other children were born.

Have a look here for further searches www.freebmd.org.uk

Just in case you don't have this, adding it here www.findagrave.com/memorial/196532490/karl-westlund

Karl Westlund of Ardrossan.   don't know why the link came up in Startpage Search .. the London Gazette, for official business ?

Also, somewhat confusing, there is an Ardrossan in Alberta, Canada

had another look at the pdf file from the London Gazette, I now think it pertains to applications for Naturalisation as a British Citizen.  Could be wrong though ...
