Irishtown Barracks RIC
« on: Wednesday 17 February 21 09:09 GMT (UK) »
In 1901/1911 Census there is an entry for Irishtown Road, Dublin, Pembroke East for Royal Irish Constabulary/Metropolitan Police
Would anyone know if this was located on the site of the current Irishtown Road Police Station?

Thank you Daithi! I am wrong. The new Garda station is on the opposite side of the road to the Old Barracks on the corner of Londonbridge Road. So it seems likely the Old Barracks in the link you posted was the original Barracks in the 1901 and 1911 census.

the Bottle Makers Hall is a completely different building about a 1/2 mile away down the Irishtown Road and was only built in 1915.   http://www.newsfour.ie/2016/10/bottlemakers-hall-mystery/

As the Barracks is a 'Listed Building' it is most likely the same barracks from the 1911 Census. Thank you .

On this link http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai000115079/ it shows no.66 as a Public House.
That would be The Vintage Inn next to The Barracks in the photo at the bottom of this article.

Check out Geohive maps - http://map.geohive.ie/mapviewer.html

Enter 'Irishtown Road' in the search box and click on the Historic Map 25 inch (1888-1913). The police station is there.
