I think that your only chance of placing NELLY Pagett into the tree is to purchase the marriage certificate to William Wood.

Quite possibly.

It's very strange - the whole family goes missing in 1881. I cannot locate Kezia, William or their children. (I believe William dies in approx 1885).

It might also be an idea to purchase Kezia's will - it may or may not give clues.  :-\

One of them appears in 1881 - Frederick age 21 who is now married to Grace and is also a hairdresser.

Unhelpfully his address at time of marriage in 1880 is just Birmingham :(

Getting off track a little from Nellie but there are trade directories with Thomas, Frederick and Kezia listed - looking at 1896 Kelly's directory.

Thinking if there were address entries for any of them around 1881 it might help find the census.

I think they’re all dated around 1890s 😩

1888 is the earliest I can find.

So curious to know where Nellie came from.  As suggested can only think of getting one of the marriage certificates but if it says her father was William Pagett hairdresser no further forward really  :-\

If William died in 1885 then his death address might get us a little closer to 1881 but long shot.

Frustrating case.  Were there any older children or was Fanny the oldest?  I think William and Kezia married in 1853?  But oldest child only 1 in 1861.

There was an older boy but he died as a child, so Fanny was the eldest surviving.

The one thing on the 1891 census that made me question Nellie’s age was the fact she’s down as a scholar. If she was 17 as stated on the census, would she have been at school?  If she was at hairdressing school as such, I’ve found they are normally written as apprentices
