Unknown Devine man in possible mourning for date
« on: Thursday 18 February 21 21:02 GMT (UK) »
Hiya

Iíve recently got hold of old photos and trying to figure out who they are, this is one of them and we have no others of him. No name or nothing but we know heís from England. Was hoping someone might be able to determine what date this is and if infact he is in mourning. We have a number of men it could be but one did have a wife that died in 1886. The bottom seems to be cut off and the back is blank

Thank you

Gary

just repaired the damage and reduced to black and white, and cropped a wee bit.

Anybody can colour him if they wish, I'm still experimenting with Layers in Pixelitor and Colour results unpredictable, cheers, Ian

I don't think men wore specific "mourning clothing".

The neckwear might be significant and dateable. Similar with the jacket/buttons. I think the "set" also may give some clues, but I will leave it to the experts to help you with dates.

He doesn't come across to me as a man of wealth despite his lovely shiny chain. He looks very kindly.
