St. Louis World's Fair, 1904
« on: Friday 19 February 21 04:54 GMT (UK) »
Great pictures of the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair.  I just found out that my great-grandparents went to it in May 1904, not long after it opened, so I've been reading up on it.

Loved looking at those, really clear pictures.  The majority of the people all wearing hats, you wouldn't see that today.

I thought the elephant made of almonds was super.

Lovely pictures.  BUT the bride and groom didn't look too happy, did they?  :)

I agree with that BumbleB, looked very morose didn't they.  Rather young as well I thought.

Wow!...what amazing photos, I really enjoyed looking through them and to see all the elegantly dressed ladies and Gentlemen. I have a postcard of the Government Building at this event.
I have distant Irish rellies who lived in St. Louis from around 1880-1920.
Thanks for posting.

I also remember Underwood typewriters - not quite as old as 1904, but they were certainly in use back in the 1950's.  Oh the joys of learning to touch-type rhythmically - A S D F G : L K J H  :) :)

I liked the picture of the craftsman with the bust of Thomas Jefferson.  I wish he was one mine.

[Shocking how they displayed native people like zoo animals].
