that Frederick is the only Frederick Golding of around the right age with a birth registered at Cheltenham.

That was the only one I could find same on Gloucestershire BMD

Not that this helps he’s Frederick William Arnold Golding on his 1874 marriage, 2 children’s baptisms 1890 and 4 children’s marriages and his 1905 death

I have never found Frederick in the 1871 census.  Could he have been on the forces; in prison, or out of the country.  As he was a compositor I would think that round about 1871 he may have been serving an apprenticeship away from home.  But he still should be able to be found.  I have regained my enthusiasm now that I have some more worthwhile stuff to follow up.
