Wheelers of Wollaston and Old Swinford
« on: Friday 19 February 21 14:57 GMT (UK) »
Looking for baptisms, marriages and burials on the Wheeler family of Wollaston Hall, nr Stourbridge from the latter part of the 17th c. onwards. If anyone has access to the Old Swinford parish records I'd appreciate any information from there.

Also there is a monument to John Wheeler, esq., (1645 - 27/11/1708) of Wollaston, J.P. for co. Worcester in Old Swinford parish church. If anyone can provide that inscription apparently gives details of his 2 wife and his children by them.
Many thanks.

You may have seen this blog - looks well researched - though it's mainly about Edward WHEELER (1721-1761):

And there is a will for John WHEELER of Wollaston, 4 March 1708. It's 12 pages long, so I haven't read it, though I'm sure it will contain lots of interesting information.  ;)

Many thanks for that info Maddy.
Yes I had seen that article for Edward Wheeler which was very interesting and had pushed in the direction of the Old Swinford records as he was baptised there on 4 March 1721-22. I was hoping that these would unfold the rest of his family. Unfortunately not accessible on line as far as I can see.
I will try and access the 1708 will and see what that holds. It is the descendants of that John Wheeler I am interested in. He apparently married twice and one of his wives I think was a Penelope Foley linking him to that family. It is his church memorial details I would like to see.
There was also a Penelope Wheeler who married a John Skidmore and another Penelope who married a Thomas Kynnersley of Loxley. So I think they might be his daughter and grand daughter.
If you come across any baptisms or any other relevant info please let me know.
Many thanks for your help so far.

Hello Muchall,

Sorry about the delay in thanking you for the above details. Very much appreciated. It helps me start to piece together the details of the Wheeler family much more easily.

Thanks again,

Craig
