Looking for relatives of Thomas Barnes Born 1822
« on: Saturday 20 February 21 20:26 GMT (UK) »
Thomas Barnes' father was Thomas Pointer.  Thomas was raised by a family by the name of Barnes and hence acquired that last name. The name Barnes evolved into Barnett then Burnett.  Anyone know of this family?

Whereabouts in Norfok was he born?   Did he name Thomas Pointer as his father on his marriage cert?  If not - where did the info come from?

Have you checked the Surname Interests Board in case anybody else is researching him?  Scroll to bottom of this page & link is under Tools

Here's one to keep in mind.

Thomas Pointer baptized at Sloley Norfolk 18 November 1821, father Thomas Grey of Tunstead
mother Mary Pointer.

Ref NFHS transcriptions

Edited
Looking at the original on ancestry I would say Mary Pointer was of Tunstead and Thomas Grey was of Sloley a labourer.

According to census Thomas bc.1820 Southrepps, Norfolk.

This must surely be him: Thomas Pointer Bernardt bp.12/10/1819 Southrepps, base born son of Phebe Bernhardt, married woman.   States her husband is a soldier.

So, given he has the second name Pointer, strongly suggests his father was also a Thomas Pointer.

A Phoebe Bullock married a Daniel Bernhardt 31/12/1815 St. James with Pockthorpe, Norwich which could be her.
