Parentage of John Calvert - husband of Anne Spotswood

Hi from Oz,

I am seeking assistance confirming the parentage and death of my 4th Great Grandfather John Calvert, who going by his 3 children's birth records, Isabella B1772 and William B1785 and Matthew B1787, lived in Northumberland during this period. I believe John Calvert's wife was Ann Spotswood, born in 1747 in Cramond Scotland, who married in 1771 at Ninebanks, and died at Kirk Linton Cumberland in Aug 1790.

According to 2 members of Ancestry.com John Calvert may have possibly been born to John Calvert and Mary Carr at Methley in Yorkshire about 1739, however from my limited resource access here in Australia, I am unable to confirm any definite records of John's parentage or his probable death in Northumberland or Cumberland.

Any assistance tracing John Calvert as outlined above, would be greatly appreciated.

Ann Spotswood bpt Jul 1748, Cramond to William Spottiswood & wife Ann Haldan, married John Thomson, a gilder & carver from Edinburgh in Apr 1771.  Only  3 children have been identified (Maria, Ann & Robert).  This family connection is confirmed in the Will of James Brodie Spottiswood of Muiresk dated 1856.    John died in May 1801 and Ann went on to marry Alexander Maitland in Edinburgh in 1805.  She died in Nov 1824 in Campsie, Stirlingshire.

There is a Burial there also for a JOHN Calvert 15 Apr 1790, abode The Leases House

And a Burial of MARY Calvert, Daug of ANN 09 Sep 1790

So if that is your John above, Ann possibly delivered a baby soon after who died.

You mention a ISABELLA 1772. There is a very large gap til William 1785.

Bapts mostly only have Fathers name John 1737-1755
Others are possibly MARY 1757 and HUGH 1760, Parents JOHN/MARY

This parish contains very ? lead mines, the principal of which are at Coalcleugh and Allenheads, where there are several levels nearly a mile in length...."
