Help in translating a postcard from Germany in 1944

Hi, I was told by a friend of mine you might be able to help me with translation of this postcard from 1944. I found this in my mom's box of old letters and other things after she passed away a few years ago. She is Japanese but my father's side of the family had a very wide mix of European blood. I was told by a friend this is written in an old script in German?

Unter den obwaltenden Umständen ist es
das Beste, was E. passieren konnte. Ich
werde ihm nächster Tage schreiben. Kein
Mensch kann ja wissen, wie es sich weiter
entwickeln wird. Ich könnte mir sogar
denken, daß Du mit Tochter von ihm einmal
einschreiten müßtest. - was vielleicht
auch nicht einmal schlimm sein würde.

It is probably the best for E. in consideration of the present circumstances
I´ll write to him in a couple of days.
Nobody knows how things are going to develop.
I even think that you, and daughter should intervene, which should´nt be to bad.
