Talk subject The Fortification of Culver Down

Speaker Tim Wander

Book free tickets via https://www.isle-of-wight-fhs.co.uk/events/10

Zoom Invites will be sent by e-mail the weekend before the presentation.

Tim Wander has researched extensively the fortifications on Culver Down, from Victorian times (the Palmerston Forts) through WW I and WW II to the post war use of the area by the military. There is plenty of evidence still "on the ground" but the area round about the downs and the nearby installations at Yaverland and Sandown is a fascinating area for studying the military presence on the Island.
