anyone from MEMPHIS that can do a look-up?

This OCR of a 7 Oct 1923 obit appears on Ancestry from a Newspaper.com listing.  The newspaper.com listing states it is either pending or no longer available.  Since it hasn't shown up, it is probably no longer available.

I sent to the TN State Archives for the obit.  Despite the Ancestry/ Newspapers.com Obit Index stating that the obit appeared in the 7 Oct 1923 issue of the Commercial Appeal (Memphis), they looked from Oct 1st to Oct 28th in that paper and couldn't find it.

I then tried a RAOGK volunteer and after an initial contact, have not had any communication since Oct.

I would appreciate it if someone from Memphis with access to the Commercial Appeal could scan the actual paper and see if this obit actually exists.

I would love to know the wife's last name and the name of the child.

My corrections are in bold type.

Other places that have the paper:

https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83001763/holdings/

or start here, scroll down and click on "Libraries that have it". It seems to give different results compared to the other link:
https://www.loc.gov/item/sn86090533/

but I don't understand the information about the dates for the holdings in each library.

Thanks for the input, OOH.

I was looking at the listing from Chronicling America yesterday, and was confused by all the dates and numbers.  I believe that the Com. Appeal gave all their archives to the University of Memphis, so I was hoping someone with access to their library might be able to help.

Very frustrating when it is listed but unavailable - still the same response I'm afraid.

There is a RAOGK volunteer for Shelby County - have we tried that one before - can't remember now ?

She responded about a month after my initial contact that she had some issues with a leg.  She said she'd get back with me but I haven't heard back, even with after I sent a reminder note months later.  Surely, there is a Rootschatter in Memphis that can help me with this newspaper.

Since the archives were donated to U of Memphis, I figured that was my best bet.

I have now relooked at his death certificate.  It states that he was a nonresident, although he was born and lived up until 1920 in Memphis/Jackson, TN.  The D.C. also states that he died of miliary tuberculosis.  He was a painter (probably signs etc, not portrait) by trade.

Maybe he was living in CA, AZ, NM, or TX for his TB and came back home either for a visit with siblings or to be near them at the time of his death.  His wife Lena states on the 1920 census that she was born in Arkansas, but that state isn't any better for TB than the humidity of TN.

They must have had a home in one of those states to which Lena would have returned after his death.  Maybe a search of a remarriage of Lena Barr in one of those states will provide her maiden name.

Thanks for all the input.
