The Times on line
« on: Tuesday 23 February 21 16:36 GMT (UK) »
I quite often hear folks saying that it is free for a period of time to search the TIMES digital collection, but by the time I get my act into gear either its no longer free or I can find the link anymore.

Please can anybody advise if its currently free and where/how ?

Thank you Pete

Do you mean The Times online edition or The Times Digital Archive?

Yes, they give you the first month free:

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/subscribe/

A really great feature is that you can search their newspaper archive going back to 1785. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/archive/ (you'll need to be a subscriber to see it)

To get some balance,  :P The Guardian also does digital subscriptions.

Their current offer is 50% off for 3 months.

https://support.theguardian.com/uk/subscribe/digital

(There's no newspaper archive with that)

I must be very balanced, Trystan, as I subscribe to both  ;D

The Guardian does have a digital archive that's hidden away:

https://theguardian.newspapers.com/

I'm wondering if the OP is looking for Times Digital Archive as Shaun mentioned.

As has been suggested, library membership could get you free online access to The Times Digital Archive. I have it via Lancashire Libraries and also Surrey Libraries.
