I seem to have made a mistake and listed an Ellen Fitzgerald as the mother of abina.  However its Patrick brien (obrien) who marries Mary Fitzgerald. Those are abinas larents- i cannot find any thier parents though unfortunately .
Thanks again

You have the 1878 marriage record.

Patrick’s father is Patrick
Mary’s father is Andrew

Here is Andrew’s death in 1885 - he is a widower, 65 yrs

A possible wife for Andrew and mother of Mary?
Death 1882 Abbey Fitzgerald 62 yrs

Civil records only began in 1864 so you would be looking for parish records for events before.

Thanks again I'll look through these and print etc...I apologise for all the typing errors in my previous post. Multi tasking is not working !..
Just a question I have Abina and John Burke married.
Abinas parents are Patrick Brien and Mary Brien.

Did you mean Mary's parents were perhaps Andrew and Abby Fitzgerald?

 ;D

I have looked and cannot find John and Patrick Burke brothers in doneraile who both married obrien sisters. I can find a Daniel Burke who married and obrien.

Are there any parents of John Burke..   with a brother Patrick or Daniel. I cannot understand why Patrick is invisible.

Thanks again

I think you have a note of those military records to start with.
In 1911 census for Doneraile, you have:
1) John and Catherine Burke with son John, 24 yrs  at house 8 in Chapel View
2) Thomas and Catherine Burke with baby John at house 3 in Chapel View
3) Daniel and Mary Burke with children Mary and Catherine at house 6 in Chapel View

Looking at births to these - it would seem that :
Thomas Burke ‘married’ Catherine Quilligan
Daniel Burke ‘married’ Mary Brien

I can’t see those marriages to check that they have father John.

I can’t see a birth for Daniel but I see that Catherine’s father was Daniel.

I apologise for the very late message. I have been printing researching and organising. With your help I have , I think got some clarity.
John Burke married Catherine Brien.
They had: John Daniel and Thomas.
Daniel and John married sisters Abina and Mary O'Brien.
Thomas married Katherine Quilligan.

Now I've managed to find their children... My theory is that Daniel had sons Patrick and John and these are perhaps the brothers who fought for the British army and the way the story has been told to me has muddled up the individuals.

Thanks so much for help!!!
Now I need to find when abina o brien died, I was told it was at Mary Burke's birth around 1924...
There is much more to do and find but it is so much clearer. Apologies for sounding like a confused bat 😃

Does it say Michael Burke is John's father?
