Death certificate
« on: Wednesday 24 February 21 13:38 GMT (UK) »
My great-uncle died on 1st July 1916 in France. He lived in Scotland. Would a full death certificate be available just like any other death in Scotland?

My grandfather's death certificate is the same format as that shown in the linked thread.  BUT he too was English.  Not sure what information Scottish death certificates would contain.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Welcome to Roots Chat.

If he resided in Scotland at the time of his death during WW1 then it would not be a full death certificate. It would be recorded under the Service Returns - normally for his Regiment. The information given is - Name, Service No, Rank, Age, Country of birth, Date of Birth, Place of Death and Cause of Death.

I hope this helps.
