Have you checked SP for a marriage or death?

What is your connection to him?

Hi Carol

He was an POW in WW2 that stayed at North Hill camp (Laurencekirk) and settled in the area after released.  I know he is deceased, as there is a recollection on the note of his death from another POW who went back to Germany.

I can't seem to find any references in SP, and wondering if he changed his name? or the person's name is incorrect (looked at Jakub, Jacob, Jakob etc)

Hi Alan

I had a look too on SP and could not see anything that could fit for him. Like you, wondering if he anglized his name post war?

I tried Ja* * Str*t and there was no obvious one. See screenshot.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
