Thanks Wexflyer, I did wonder about the difference between a solicitor and an attorney. In either case it wasn't Jeffrey Keating himself who was giving the information.

I'm now looking for the other 2 of his brothers I didn't know of. I always thought Jeffrey was the second son. Strangely enough his eldest brother was also baptised Jeffrey but was known by his second name, James.

Spelling can be important. He was Jeffery, not Jeffrey.

And sometimes Jeffry or Geoffrey. The family seemed to use all the variations.
