Albert Edward Trout 1866-1890
« on: Saturday 27 February 21 16:03 GMT (UK) »
Hi. I am going round in circles, Albert Edward Trout was a sailor in the Navy and in 1890 he drowned in a notorious shipwreck aboard the HMS Serpent. He had only just got married and here is my problem. I know that he was married within weeks of his death because of newspaper articles but I can't work out who his wife was. In theory this is easy, Ancestry and FindMyPast say that he married either Eliza Lendon or Annie Maria Smith in Topsham in 1890 but I can't find out which. I have tried census returns, babies, future marriages etc with no success. Normally I just try to apply the surname to both of the women and search for them but I can't find either. Any help would be brilliant, I think I am missing something obvious.
Thanks
Alison

What can I say - thank you, I couldn't see it for looking and I can't imagine it would have improved any time soon!
Have a lovely weekend

The description of daughter in law rather than step daughter was not really accurate but I have seen that done before
