One last tid bit before I close this off. A relative who saw my inquiry sent me this but he has no idea where it originated from or if its of any value.

"1930 US census of Merchant Seamen in Boston, Mass that had a Thomas Mason"

They're hundreds of Thomas Mason's but why this one specific I have no idea.
Just another piece of A puzzle that may not fit.

Thanks for your help on this, we may have to succumb to the fact we will never know what happened to Thomas Francis Mason after 1901.

They do have a Thomas Mason who was 57 years old - widowed - Canada-English - NA -
A veteran of WW.   Address 96 Main Street Gloucester Massachusetts.
