Thank you for the replies everyone.
Desmond died in Canada, I think he and Alice emigrated there in the 70s from Pakistan whereas my mother and father in law came to the UK
I don’t know if William had any brothers or sisters. He was actually Desmond’s step father, his real father was an Alimo (wondering if the Alimo marriage maddys52 found is related somehow?)but as he is the grandfather that my mother in law knew, it is his linage that she wants in her tree.
I will check out the library access thing. I did plan to start using ancestry at my local library once lockdown lifts  :)

Catherine McDonald, dau. of William, married William Brady 5/10/1878 Bengal. They had a daughter Eliza Mary Catherine Brady bp.5/9/1879 Bengal.

The tree states Alfred's first wife was an Amelia Leigh who died 1881 but can't find that marriage nor her burial entry.

Just to clarify from the marriages shown by Maddy and me

It looks as though:
Claude Kelly married Cecilia Alimo (father Alexander ) in 1902
Daughter Norah Winifred born 1903

Norah W Kelly married Oswin Clayton Alimo (father Edward) in 1924
Norah Alimo married William Marolly in 1928
